FINDING BOOKS

SEARCH
Click on thumbnail above to go to our Destiny Online Catalog.  Look up your topic.

TIPS

1.  First try looking up the person's name and click on Subject.

2. If that doesn't yield results, click on Refine your search, and click Keyword instead.

3. If you don't get what you need, try the "jump-out" technique.  Search by the broader category, such as Emperor*, or Roman* or Ancient*. Try subject search first; then keyword if necessary. NOTE: The asterisk after the search term allows for any endings on the word. For example Roman* will bring up Roman, Romans, Roman Empire, Roman Emperors, etc.

4. Browse the Ancient History Section (REF 930s) and / or the Reference Biography collections (REF 920s) and look up your person's name in the set indexes.

CHRONOLOGIES

These are the timetables of history and they list dates, people, events and sequences.  It can be extremely helpful to browse through the date spans. These books are good for questions 1, 2, and 3 of your assignment.
